Moving
As Chuck said we are off to Seattle - I have to say that it is hard for me. I am excited, happy Chuck got such a great job but it will be hard to leave Michigan and my family and friends here. Luckily we have good friends in Seattle too, which is nice. We told Colin we were moving and I didn’t expect him to really understand but then he said “We are going to move our house?” and I said “We can’t it is too big” he replied “Maybe I will grow up big and then I can move it” to which we replied that it would still be too big and that we were going to sell the house. He said “Which man is going to buy it?” and we told him we weren’t sure but hopefully someone
He didn’t seem sad, he was very matter of fact about it all.
We have been working really hard to get our house ready to sell and we are almost there. The boys have been pretty good for us overall. Holden is sleeping a bit better now - in his crib. It takes a while for him to go to sleep but then he pretty much just wakes up once around 2 ish, until 5 AM when he always comes into sleep with us. He has almost rolled over - onto his sides but doesn’t quite make it all the way. He also started grabbing toys which is great. He gets his hands in his mouth but gets really frustrated when they won’t stay there ![]()
Colin’s latest thing is the presidents of the United States. He started to know George Washington because of his desire to always be the one to pay for things when we are out. Then we saw a president place mat and he pointed to John Quincy Adams and said “who is that?” I told him and replied “John Quincy Adams is angry.” So we got it for him, now he knows a few more. He always says “George Washington was the first president of the United States on Earth in the Universe” and today he was running around the backyard naked, playing in his pool saying “James K Polk…James K Polk… is silly”
A couple other little things he said recently - I went to tuck him in one night and he said “Mommy - did you paint this for me?” - referring to his mural. I said yes and he said “Thanks mommy” and gave me a hug - it was the sweetest thing. A few days ago we were talking about someone else’s baby and he said “like Holden, the baby brother you made for me?”
Be sure to note the wet area on my shoulder - Holden is a notorious drooler right now, we think he may be teething extra early. If you hold him facing you, it’s basically guaranteed you’re going to take a bath.
