Last post of July – tivo broke

Been feeling remiss about the blog lately, hopefully that doesn’t mean we’re shortchanging Colin on taking pictures and recording every second of his day. I don’t think that’s the case, but we’ll try to crank it up a notch through the remaining five months of the year, especially now that we know that at least 2 people check out the blog from time to time (thanks Mom and Riss!).

Colin loves Tivo. For as long as I can remember (stretching back the full 22+ months of his life thus far), he’s always gotten psyched when the telltale “ding” announces Tivo coming to life on the TV. More recently, I think a good deal of the excitement relates to his understanding that “Sesse Steet” (translation: sesame street) can be played any time of day through Tivo. These kids and their grasp on all that new fangled technology, I tell you.

So he’s always been a big fan, and yesterday he decided to do a more thorough investigation of the tivo box itself. Not sure why he didn’t get around to this until yesterday, because he “investigates” (translation: deconstructs and/or destroys) most things these days. In any case, he started playing around with the little tivo man on the front, and managed to pop it off the box – he then turns to Jess and me, and in a voice reminiscent of his ‘chip and salsa’ voice, goes “Tivo boke!” (translation: Tivo is broken!). So we ask him to fix it, so he sticks it on at about 15 degrees off center, stands up, claps his hands, and starts cheering (we were cheering as well, not sure who cheered first). At which point he proceeded to ‘break’ tivo about 12 more times.

Also got to webcam with the Arizona Fullers yesterday, which was fun – they’re a nutty bunch. Colin was obsessively demanding that anyone who was on the phone at the time must sing Itsy Bitsy Spider. Jess has him so brainwashed on Michigan that at the end of any song like that he cheers loudly and then shouts “Go Blue!” I’ve got to work on replacing that with “Go Heels!”

Pics from up north

Here are a couple of recent Colin pics. We went up north to my parent’s house last weekend. My brother and his girlfriend Kristin were there (we were meeting her for the first time) and of course Colin won his way into their hearts. Hey was saying their names right away, saying he wanted to kiss Kristin and entertaining them with all of his words and little cute things like “chips and salsa.” He is talking about “Uncle Ben” as I write this.

Nana also bought him this elaborate sprinkler/pond thing that I was calling the Bellagio. You can see him standing naked next to it the in this picture.

In the photo below Chuck was just about to rip off the ugly wood from our front door and colin wanted to help him by climbing the ladder.

Colin has been funny as ever… he just found my keys and told me we should “Drive car to sun” – I told him it would be a bit far and hot.

Chips and salsa

They can’t all be cute shots, right – nothing wrong with a little variety, courtesy of the moodiness of an almost 2 year old. According to Jess he was just frustrated when this was taken. That usually happens when he wants to do something and he says “heeellllllppppp”, as in let me do it.

On the flip side, he was cracking me up the other day – we went to get a little Mex for dinner, and got Colin some chips and salsa to tide him over. He went to town on these things, and at some point I asked him if he like the chips and salsa. I think we just kept going back and forth saying chips and salsa, and eventually he started saying it in this funny voice, accompanied by a funny face, believe me you’d laugh if you saw him do it. Now all I have to do is say “chips and salsa” and he starts going off – always entertaining.
